The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s School of Pharmacy is hosting a reading group and lecture featuring Dr. Kwasi Adusei on October 26, 2022 as part of the Borghesi-Mellon workshop series. Registration is open at this link: https://go.wisc.edu/7aufbn
From 1:30 to 3pm Central Standard Time, participants can attend the in-person reading group titled “Transdisciplinarity in Psychedelics” in Helen C. White hall, room 6191. Those interested in the reading group can email Amanda Pratt (apratt4@wisc.edu) for the reading.
Then, from 3:30 to 5pm CST, participants can tune into Dr. Adusei’s lecture, in the same room (Helen C White Hall 6191) or virtually, via Zoom.
Dr. Kwasi Adusei, DNP, PMHNP, is a service oriented, curious Ghanaian native passionate about the intersections of community, wellbeing, and technology. He has a vision for a future driven by inner and outer restoration and how they converge to alter the maladaptive systems of our current world. As an educator and community organizer, he is informed by his experience with the war on drugs and community mental health, both as a patient and a clinician. He is also psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, co-founder of the Psychedelic Society of Western New York, and led the development of a grassroots psychedelic harm reduction organization called the Sanctuary Project.
Dr. Adusei’s hybrid lecture, entitled “Beyond set and setting” will encourage the audience to expand our mantra of preparing for psychedelic experiences from “set and setting” to “set and setting and support,” and elaborate on all that means in regard to community, equity, and internal resourcing.
These two events will be a great way to kick off the UW Madison Psychedelic Symposium taking place on the UW-Madison campus October 27th-28th.
